We were delighted to work with each of the developers to ensure that each and every new resident had the brightest and clearest views from their apartments. And boy is there a lot of glass up there:

We don’t think that there’s any shop front as important as the one displaying cars. These are big-ticket purchases, and people spend a lot of time and effort researching and kicking tyres. So when we were asked to help with the massive plate glass windows at Davey’s we knew how important the task was. And the outcome?

This was a big project, with a large surface area to polish. As usual we were up to the task, and the client was delighted with there as-new zero-distortion plate glass windows. The Park Carrickmines

The Park Carrickmines is one of Ireland’s latest and largest out-of-town “Urban Quarters”. In case your wondering what that means, The Park is a mixed-use development consisting of retail and office space. And we can proudly say that we helped out when disaster happened.

The Story Of The Welder And The Windows

So somehow a welder managed to do some serious damage to some of the brand new windows in the development. Here’s how bad things were – you could barely see through the glass:

You can see how the splatter has burned right into the glass.

Ouch, and the cost of replacing top-of-the-range glass like this only rubbed salt into the wound. (If you’re glass has been affected by weld splatter check out our weld splatter page.) Thankfully our guys were there to help out. Not only did we fix up the weld splatter, but we also worked across the site saving the developers money, time and aggravation. Take a look at these images. They were taken at the home of one of our recent clients (check out our home glass repair services if you need more info). The images may look like simple dirt on glass, but actually the streaks were caused by acid etching after the brick work had been power washed with chemical agent:

New glass repair system set to reduce insurance payouts on replacement glass

Insurance payouts on replacement glass are set to be substantially reduced following the introduction of a highly innovative glass repair system by 3M,
the diversified technology company.

3M’s Glass Defect Repair System uses the company’s acclaimed Trizact abrasive technology to provide consistent cut and finish to restore glass to its optimal appearance.

It will repair even deep scratches on most common types of architectural glass and also remove graffiti, scuffs, and other unwanted deposits, with no impact on the integrity of the glass. Providers across the UK including Glass Polish ( www.scratchglass.com) are now offering a rapid, responsive service using this system.

The introduction of the kit will reduce the number of instances in which replacement glass is needed, with loss adjusters now able in many instances to specify a repair rather than a replacement for both commercial and domestic properties.

3M’s Trizact products feature a precisely structured surface rather than the random pattern on most abrasive products. This ensures consistent performance and reduced processing time for scratch and defect removal.

Henry Blackman, Product Manager, Abrasive Systems Division, at 3M, commented: “Replacement glass – for damage caused accidentally or deliberately – amounts to an enormous cost for insurers and to date there has not been a viable alternative. The 3M Glass Defect Repair System will significantly reduce the number of replacement panes needed as much of the affected glass can now be quickly and easily repaired rather than replaced, in turn significantly reducing the amount insurers have to pay out.”
